DayZ Breaking Point | Old Moto Mary

Welcome. It seems like forever since I've managed to post something here. That's because it has been forever. I apologize, wanna see some DayZ?

I started off with a really crap spawn just outside Komorovo, on the shores of the dark country. I moved inland until I had a hatchet and some bandages, not much of a good start but I worked with it. Soon after the server went down. Just as well, it was pitch black.

Upon joining another server I headed up to Balota, where I heard shots by the airstrip and a Bloodsucker having one hell of a meal. I felt somewhat sorry for the poor soul who had provoked him. He met a very sticky end.

Terrified of being the Blooksucker's next play thing, I ran up the coastline until I hit a gas station paired with a military outpost. This is where I met Mary, the most loyal and trustworthy Old Moto I have ever had the joy to be transported on. I quickly dispatched all zombie threats around us, got on her and rode off into the infamous Cherno. The place where everything can go wrong and Bloodsuckers stalk every shadow. This was not a fun task, weaving through the strict mistress of Cherno, her streats filled with rubble and debris from a bygone age of humanity.

From there me and Mary headed into Elektro, Cherno's slightly more pleasant neighbour. Once there, Mary began to run out of fuel. The poor Moto could barely keep chugging along as we rounded into the power station. I hopped from her back, letting her rest up while I looked for some loot. The first building and result! A jerry can filled with 20 litres of fuel! I rejoiced in this find as I filled Mary's tank, the night suddenly got brighter with new hope! I would not die. Yet.

We went on our way again, into the darkness, further up into Chernaurus' wilderness. Through towns we dodged and weaved zombies, jumped over trash and avoided husks of destroyed cars. Town after town went by, nothing seeming to jump out, wanting to be discovered. Finally Mary hit a zombie, slap bang in the middle of its chest. Her front wheel crippled and I fell off onto the dusty road. The zombie dead and all of its allies alerted to the commotion, I picked Mary up and kicked her back into life. For some unknown reason her front wheel fixed itself, so we ran like schoolchildren from a strict teacher.

Unfortunately 20 litres of fuel can only get one so far and eventually, Mary stalled in a field. Accepting this most recent turn of events, I ran back into the previous town, risking my life against the Bloodsucker in the church. I found what I needed, a fuel tanker, filled my jerry can and ran to Mary. She was filled and ready to go, but not without a second jerry can of fuel to be safe.I ran back into town once more, refilled the can and made my way to Mary. Once on her back I kicked the gas and went for the road. Bloodsucker screaming behind us, I gave it all she had to escape a horrible fate.

More than an hour later and one more, slightly less dramatic pit stop, Mary and I ended up at North West Airfield. This was the single most dangerous place on the map. Players, dogs, zombies, Nightstalkers and Bloodsuckers roamed the airstrip. They were all looking for a kill. All looking for me and my trusty bike. I parked Mary in a tree four hundred meters away from the strip in order to keep her safe. Attached is a picture. Apologies about the quality.

Mary and I hiding in the mentioned tree. Hatchet and all.

From there I headed into the depths of the woods, making my way to the barracks. Upon entering every building I found no loot other than some clothes. Nothing. Not even a can of beans. Running around the back of the airfield, I felt something watching me. I looked back on the eerily quiet airfield, seeing nothing but this.

The empty NWA, waiting to claim a squad of better men.

After finding nothing I headed back to Mary, through the woods and buildings of old society, abandoned and falling apart.

I'm afraid that we are coming to an end on this journey. I did nothing more other than find Mary and find a place for the night. Here I am with Mary, getting ready to depart from NWA.

Sorting myself out, readying Mary for our last journey.

You may think that this is all too much for some old rusty bike. It may be, but I feel the need to tell you of our journey across Chernaurus tonight. And the final farewell that is now so close.

We left NWA, feeling light that we did not encounter a single enemy tonight, other than a few slow Bloodsuckers. Across the fields we rode, finally finding a secluded spot to sleep for the night.
I tried to hide Mary well, trees are not the best cover.

Mary's final resting place. A tree in the middle of nowhere with a chemlight beneath her.

With that the server shut down, entering into its restart phase.

I thank Mary for being so trustworthy, carrying me from the shores of Chernaurus to the very top of her highest mountain. If anyone is to find Mary, please treat her well. She will never let you down.

Thank you for reading this weird blog post. I just felt like I should tell someone about this adventure. All I had was a hatchet and a handgun, nothing more. Now it's over and Mary can rest.

I shouldn't write blogs at half past two in the morning.
